Ingredients:
2 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
4 tbsp shortening
1 egg
¾ cup milk
¾ cup finely chopped nut meats
2 tbsp butter
Directions:
Sift the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
Cut in the four tablespoons of shortening until the consistency of coarse cornmeal.
Moisten with the eggs, slightly beaten and combined with the milk; mix until blended.
Transfer to a board dusted with flour; roll into oblong shape one-fourth inch in thickness.
Divide in halves; spread one-half with the chopped nuts and butter, combined.
Cover with the second half; press the edges together and cut into finger length strips.
Transfer to an oiled shallow pan and bake in a hot oven (375 degrees) for 20 minutes or until brown.
